It has become important to us due to its various health benefits including its ability to stimulate hair growth, boost mental activity, relieve respiratory problems and reduce pain.

Rosemary, also known as Rosmarinus Officinalis, is very popular in the Mediterranean region as a culinary herb. Many dishes are cooked with rosemary oil and freshly plucked rosemary leaves. Rosemary essential oil is mostly extracted from the leaves. The rosemary bush belongs to the mint family which includes basil, lavender, myrtle, and sage.

Rosemary has been extensively used since ancient times for a variety of purposes. The Romans gave special importance to rosemary plant and used it in religious ceremonies. Its use extended to wedding ceremonies, food, cosmetics, and herbal care. The advantage of a reed diffuser is it supplies a fragrance scent without the need for a flame or electricity. This allows a reed diffuser to be used in a location that a candle would not be allowed. Such as some offices, dorm rooms or fire restricted areas. The additional advantage of a reed diffuser, at least oil filled reed diffusers is that they last a long time without a re-fill. Our reed diffusers at Scent of Natures are all oil filled. This is not true of less expensive alcohol filled reed diffusers wish are used up more quickly. We have gotten many months of use out of single oil filled reed diffuser in our home.

The principle behind the operation of a reed diffuser is the fragrance filled oil travels up the reeds to then disperse the fragrance in the air. The more reeds you use typically 9 to 12 reeds the stronger the scent. The fewer the number of reeds used in a reed diffuser the weaker the scent. That way you can control the amount of scent by adjusting the number of reeds used. It is best at times to flip the reeds over, especially when first starting the reed diffuser to get the action started or to improve the action if the scent has weakened in the area. You must be very careful when working with a reed diffuser; the fragrance filled oil can remove the finish on any surface if spilled. Normally when flipping the reeds I remove them slowly wipe the removed end with a paper towel then place them back in the diffuser.

Reed diffusers are supplied in many different designs to match almost any décor. They work best in small rooms such as baths, which need just that right amount of scent. At Scent of Natures we also sell .the diffuser oil and reeds separately, this can be used to refresh a reed diffuser you already have or to make a vase or container you have into a reed diffuser. We do recommend that you change the reeds in a diffuser when you add more fragranced diffuser oil. Over time the reeds will clog and not work as well as when first started.

Lavender

Lavender is one of the most recognizable and beloved scents in the world. Perfume is an experience that allows for you to be taken to a new world. Each time that the scent of your perfume wafts by someone, they should be able to know that you are creating for them a memory of you. Many women are known by the scent of their perfume. Buy perfume that creates a memory in the eyes of those that you love and those that you hope to meet.

There are several ways to select a women's fragrance. You will want to think about the type of scent that you enjoy. A fragrance can be musky. The perfume can smell fruity. Or, the fragrance can smell more flowery.

In some cases, the perfume can even smell clean and crisp. Some perfume choices can smell very light while other perfumes will be much stronger. In any of these cases, perfumes are all very distinct. Just because you enjoy one perfume in vanilla does not mean another fragrance in vanilla will smell the same.

If you are looking for a designer perfume, the costs will be higher. If you are unsure of the scent that the perfume can provide you, stop by a perfume store to smell them. But, beware of purchasing women’s or men’s perfumes there, as it can be quite costly for a small bottle of perfume.

You can also request small samples of perfume to go with your choice so that next time you can find the amazing perfume that you enjoy.

Essential Oil Families

Do you ever wonder what constitutes a Chypre fragrance, or an Aquatic? Is your favorite perfume called an Oriental Floral, but you don’t know why? You are not alone. Most consumers don’t realize that each fragrance is a member of an olfactory group. There are six main families that each have their respective sub-families. While knowing these groups is not essential to wearing perfume, it is helpful to know what olfactory groups appeal to you most when looking for a new fragrance to wear for yourself or a loved one. Below is a list of the perfume ingredients found in each family, with the most popular essential oils used to create each group and their respective sub-groups.

Floral - Feminine and Romantic

The most popular group used in women’s fragrance, florals can be based on a combination (bouquet) of flowers including rose, peony, tuberose, lily and jasmine or a single flower note (soliflore).

Chypre - Timeless and Original

This fragrance family is built on distinctive top notes of oak moss, bergamot, patchouli, and labdanum. The result is a strong and spicy fragrance with a powdery finish.

Citrus - Fresh and Clean

The predominant note in this family is composed of a sparkling citrus fruit. Bergamot, orange, mandarin, tangerine, lemon and grapefruit are commonly used.

Oriental - Exotic and Rich

The heavy sweetness of sandalwood, musk and vanilla characterize this spicy, exotic family. Also known as the amber family, it captures the deep, rich and musky tones of the orient.
